Director of Community Services

Department: Senior Day Care
Location: HONOLULU, HI

Palolo Chinese Home — Caring for Hawai‘i Since 1896

For more than a century, Palolo Chinese Home has been a place where compassion meets culture, where seniors of all backgrounds are cared for with dignity, respect, and genuine aloha. We’re not just a care provider — we’re a community, a legacy, and a family.

Now, we’re looking for a leader who shares that spirit.

About the Role

As our Director of Community Services, you’ll guide and grow the programs that help Hawai‘i’s seniors thrive at home — Adult Day Care, Home Care, and Adult Residential Care Home (ARCH) services.

This is a role for someone who sees community not as a department, but as a mission. Someone who believes kupuna deserve to age with joy, connection, and cultural pride. Someone who wants to build programs that make a real difference in real lives.

If that sounds like you, we’d love to meet you.

Pay Range

$85,000 – $100,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications

What You’ll Lead

  • Provide visionary leadership for Adult Day Care, Home Care, and ARCH programs
  • Develop innovative, culturally grounded services that uplift our kupuna
  • Build strong partnerships with hospitals, community groups, and referral sources
  • Collaborate with staff, families, and stakeholders to ensure exceptional care
  • Manage budgets and resources with wisdom and transparency
  • Evaluate program outcomes and champion continuous improvement
  • Represent Palolo Chinese Home at community events and outreach efforts
  • Seek funding opportunities and craft grant proposals to support new initiatives
  • Stay ahead of trends and best practices in community-based senior care

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, nursing, social work, public administration, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in healthcare or community-based services
  • A leadership style rooted in empathy, clarity, and collaboration
  • Strong communication skills and a love for building relationships
  • Knowledge of local resources and support networks
  • Experience with budgets and grant writing
  • Background in adult day care, home care, residential care, or long-term care (preferred, not required)

Benefits That Support You

  • Health Insurance: Comprehensive medical (including drug, vision, and dental).
  • Paid Time Off: 10 paid holidays, 10 days of sick leave, and 10 days of vacation to start.
  • Retirement Savings: 401(k) & Roth 401(k) with a 4% matching contribution.
  • Student Loan Help: Qualified Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Employer.
  • Tax Savings: Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) and AFLAC supplemental insurance.
  • Daily Perks: On-site and street parking are 100% free, plus discounted employee meals for only $3.50.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

At Palolo Chinese Home you’re not just taking a job — you’re joining a legacy of care that spans generations. You’ll work with a team that values culture, compassion, and community. You’ll help shape programs that allow kupuna to live with joy, independence, and connection. And you’ll do it in a place where your work truly matters.
